Herbarium (2009 - present)

A herbarium is a collection of pressed and preserved plant specimens for scientific categorization. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when "polite botany" became a means for women to carry out scientific study, the assembling of herbaria became a popular female pursuit. Photographer Anna Atkins, for example, recorded a large collection of algae with the cyanotype process to produce the first book illustrated with photographs in the history of photography.

I love the colors and abstractions I find in flowers. Using a macro lens, I offer the privileged view of bees and bugs and goddesses.
