Imagined Identities 2020 -

During the pandemic, I took several on-line workshops, including one on digital collage. I was determined to make my peace with PhotoShop layers, or at least figure out how to use them enough to get the effects I had in mind. I started a series of imaginings, beginning with old photographs I had collected over the years, and then devising occupations or identities for them. What fun! As I work on them, their settings and accoutrements take shape, and their distinct personalities begin to emerge: little cousin Fiona, the child falconer; Uncle Floyd, who talks to fish; Cosmo (the black sheep of the family), a meglomanical backyard astronomer; second cousin Bertha (twice removed), a fanatical book collector; honorary aunt Celeste, magical meterologist; Edna and Stan, amateur conchologists; Daphne, fashionable lumberjack.
